Privet hedge on an embankment with RETENTIS®
In the private garden of Project W, a new privet hedge was planted on an embankment. On sloping ground in particular, the water supply is demanding, because irrigation water and rainfall can run off more quickly.
To keep water in the root zone of the young plants for longer, 100 grams of RETENTIS® were mixed directly into the soil for each privet plant. Fertiliser was also added to give the plants a good supply of nutrients during establishment.
Support during establishment
RETENTIS® stores water and the nutrients dissolved in it in the soil and releases them to the plants when needed. This keeps moisture available for longer where the young roots develop.
This is particularly helpful on an embankment. The privet plants get more stable conditions for establishment and can develop into a dense, resilient hedge.
RETENTIS® for hedges and slopes
Project W shows how RETENTIS® can also be used effectively in a private garden. For hedge planting, slopes and other sites with increased watering needs, water storage in the root zone supports a sustainable supply to the plants.
